Wherever You Will Go — Now Out in the World

Book cover of Wherever You Will Go by Fran Clark

Just three days ago, I released Wherever You Will Go into the world—and I’m still feeling all the emotions that come with launching a book that’s lived in my heart and head for so long.

Thank you so much to those of you who have already bought the book, messaged me, or shared your excitement online. Your early support means everything.

So, what’s Wherever You Will Go about?

If you haven’t yet dived in, Wherever You Will Go is a historical novel set in East London during and after the Second World War. It’s a love story—yes—but also a story about loss, identity, silence, and survival.

You’ll follow a young woman seeking answers in the rubble left by war, and a man whose past threatens the future he’s only just begun to imagine. It’s also about those who served from the colonies, especially the Caribbean, whose sacrifices were too often ignored—something I felt compelled to bring into the light through fiction.

The novel is grounded in real locations like Stepney and imagined spaces like the Dockman’s Arms. The research took me deep into archives, maps, and personal histories of Caribbeans who travelled to the UK on The Empire Windrush in 1948, in search of a better life, also London during the Blitz, rationing, and the slow, painful process of rebuilding.

A Quiet Start—and a Quiet Strength

Not all books launch with fireworks (and not all authors want them to). Wherever You Will Go arrived quietly, but I hope it will find its readers in their own time—those who enjoy immersive, emotive historical fiction with characters they can truly care about.

And if you’ve read it already (or just started), I’d love to know what you think. Reviews—even just a line or two—on Amazon, Goodreads, or wherever you read, make a huge difference in helping others discover the book.

In the city’s shadowed streets Essie uncovers betrayals that shake her to the core. The man who promised her forever has buried secrets that threaten everything she believed about love, trust, and herself.
